Melanie is a graduate student in the Microbiology, Immunology, and Cancer Biology PhD program at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. She has an undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology from Colorado College. Prior to joining the University of Minnesota, she spent two years at the NIH as a post-bacc studying the role of Group 1 Innate Lymphoid Cells in the oral mucosa of mice. She is interested in host-pathogen interactions and how our oral microbiome defends against pathogens. Outside of research, Melanie loves spending time with her dog and fiance as well as watching reality TV shows and finding new books to read!
